World Book Day is a special day that is celebrated every year around the world to promote reading and encourage children to explore the joy of books. In Scoil Mhuire, we celebrated World Book Day with great enthusiasm and excitement. On this day, the students came dressed up in costumes representing their favourite characters from books. It was heartening to see the creativity and effort put in by the children and their parents in making and sourcing the costumes. There were Harry Potters, Wimpy Kids, Disney Princesses, characters from Charlie and the Chocolate Factory and a host of other characters that brought the magic of books to life. Not to be left behind, the teachers and staff of the school also dressed up as their favourite characters, much to the delight of the students. Apart from dressing up, the students also brought in their favourite books and shared them with their classmates. The children enjoyed talking about their books and they loved recommending them to their friends. It was a great opportunity for the them to broaden their reading horizons and explore new genres and authors. We hope that this day will inspire more children to pick up a book and embark on a lifelong journey of reading and learning.
